What is it like for a Jew to live in Italy

What is it like for a Jew to live in Italy?
Since Italy is mostly a Catholic country, does it handle other religions well? Are there synogagues throughout the country or just in some main areas?

Rome has a very large and active Jewish community.

You could check out the Jerusalem Italian Jews Association: http://www.jija.org/ENGLISH/JIJA/Home/JIJAHome.html Italy is predominantly, but not actively catholic- religous persecution is not common now, at least not that I've seen. In the fascist era there were major issues for Jews- a large percentage of Rome's Jewish community was taken to the concentration camps and did not return, but Italians have worked hard to overcome this thing in their past, I believe.
