Best place to live in Italy

Best place to live in Italy?
Hello all, my husband and I want to move to Italy. We are in our mid 40’s. I am a Chicagoan and I love a lively neighborhood. What we are looking for: 1. Safe neighborhood 2. Lively, but not too congested 3. By the water 4. Shops and cafes 5. Up and coming neighborhood is fine 6. Some land, not much 7. Not too pricy 8. Good investment optional, but not necessary Any suggestions will be very appreciated.

Hi, I suggest you Viterbo, which is a town 70 km to the north of Rome. 1. yes, it's a safe and peaceful town; 2. yes, it's lively, but it's not congested like a big city; 3. it's NOT by the water (as you wrote after); 4. it has a lovely downtown with shops and cafes, as well as shopping malls in the suburbs; 5. it depends from the neighborhood you choose; 6. there are lots of lovely detached houses; 7. it is not; 8. you can find them, becouse the area is growing on tourism, university, and commerce. myahooo!
