Is it possible to live in Italy

Is it possible to live in Italy?
My dream is to live in Italy, or even somewhere nice in Europe, like Luxembourg or France, but I feel like it's way too expensive. I think living in the US is costly....Europe seems worse. I currently live in the US, but would like to move to Europe. I also heard there aren't many jobs. Is this true?

hi, i'm a foreign exchange student that in a week i ll go back to italy after one year in wisconsin...and i can't wait.....i love italy. Anyways yes Italy is expensive as nation, since is very consumeristic...people spend lots of money in clothes,(all designers), nightlife (together with spain and greece, italy has awsome dance clubs), food (we actually have luxury restaurants, nothing like mcdonald or pizza hut) and all stuff that may concern high society...i'm telling u this cuz in wisconsin they have no idea of what all those stuff are...and yea most of the states are cheaper than italy....than i guess NYC,Miami,LA,Honolulu may cost the same or even more.....about the jobs, yea there aren't many....in Italy there isn't crisis such as america, concerning the loss of jobs, the problem is that young people can't find jobs....by the way, i've been travelling all over EU and US and i don't wanna be offensive, but EU is 1000 better than US, for so many reasons...good luck in finding ur best place to live =]

Nope...58,145,320 million people live there and yet it's impossible. Lol, well seriously, Europe can be expensive particularly Switzerland, South of France and England. But yeah there are always jobs. You could work at an American or British school abroad or there's always businesses to go into.

I've lived here for the past ten years (my US home is in Denver). It isn't easy to find jobs right now, but that doesn't mean you can't start planning for an upturn in the economy. I'm not aware of anyone in the town where I live that is actively hiring right now. It is also more expensive to live here - my one bedroom apartment in a small city here costs about the same monthly as my four bedroom house in Denver. First, you cannot legally live or work here without a visa that allows it. There are various different kinds of visas possible. The Italian government website with visa information is here: http://www.esteri.it/visti/home_eng.asp EU citizens have the right to live and work anywhere in the EU. Others require a visa to work legally. In order to get a work permit for you, a company has to demonstrate that there isn't an EU citizen available to fill the job. Generally, this requires that you have special skills, experience or knowledge. Some jobs, such as au pair, are specifically only for EU citizens by law since they don't require skills that aren't widely available. The easiest way to make a move is to do so within an international company - that's how I ended up in Italy. Even then, getting the visa took about 8 months - mostly to put all the paperwork in place. There are some good resources for research on a move like this: http://www.expatsinitaly.com/ , http://www.expatica.com/ , http://www.escapeartist.com/ You can find many sites for specific countries just by searching for "expat" and the name of the country you're interested in. You should also be aware that you'll need to file tax returns in both the US and Italy.

It's possible, but there are some laws and rules you have to know before to came in Europe. Most of all about VISA. You can't think you came here and live here if you don't have that. This is the page of italian police. Please read it carefully in every part. It's very very important if you really want to live here (page is in english): http://poliziadistato.it/articolo/10617 About job 'cause of crises it's difficult to find one also for us European citizen....
