What is a nice, rather cheap and beautiful city/town to live in Italy

What is a nice, rather cheap and beautiful city/town to live in Italy?
I'm moving to Italy very soon, but I need to make the choice of the town to live in. I'm looking for a small Italian town with low cost of living. I'm not looking for anything too expensive, but I'm not looking for a town with no electricity either. Some place that's very comfy etc. I can always get transport to the main cities somehow. Help!! 10 easy points.

The place to live in Italy is Florence. (Firenze) Look at a map for Trenitalia on line and see what towns are on the rail lines.

If you haven't yet decided where to live in Italy it seems that you don't have a visa organised either. If you have an EU passport, then no problems as you can life and work in Italy. But if you only have say a US passport, then you're only entitled to stay in Italy for 90 days out of evey 180 days as a tourist. You don't seem to be a student as you would have mentioned the University you'll be attending, so the other option is a long-stay visa. To get this you will need to show that you have a good reason to be in Italy, accommodation arranged, and are able to support yourself financially while in Italy as you will not be allowed to work.

In or around Ventimiglia. It's an Italian sea town on the north west border next to France. Well connected with trains, it's near Sanremo and Monaco. It's just an idea. There are lot's of nice towns in Italy.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siderno

Hi! I'm italian. I'm surprised to see that there are also american people moving to Italy, and not only italian people going to America *-*. Anyway, Florence is a wonderful city, but it's expensive! I can suggest you going to Bergamo. It is in the north of Italy, in Lombardia. Well, maybe living in the centre of the town might be expensive, but there are many little towns near the centre, and it would take you about 15 minutes by bus to get to the centre. There you can take the train and reach any part of Italy that interests you! And Bergamo is only 30 minutes by train from Milan *-*. Sorry for the mistakes. Ciao!
