How is it to live in Italy

How is it to live in Italy?
I'm in the U.S Navy and am looking to get stationed in Italy. I've always loved it there. I visited once when i lived in Germany and ever since then i've been in love with it. Is it a good idea to live there and what is it like?

I've never been to Italy but I know someone who has. They talk about how they're house has a balcony. Make what you want of that.

Yeah, forgetting for a moment about our crappy government, Italy is a great country to live. Americans are always impressed by the relaxed way we lead our lives. I generally like it here! I think it's one of the most beautiful countries in the world...

As Jane said, if we didn't have some of the most corrupted politicians in the world it would be the greatest country in the world. It's the richest country in world for art and history, got some of the best natural landscapes, it's surrounded by the sea and got the highest mountains in Europe, plus there are beautiful hills. With Japan, it's the only country in the world where there are really 4 seasons, the others got just 2 real ones and 2 intermediate seasons. That means an unbelievable variety of sceneries during the year and great variety of products. The rhythm of life is quite relaxed and the distance between upper classes and working classes is not as wide as in other countries (like the anglosaxon ones in example). People are usually friendly, pass most of the time outside and love to enjoy life. Unfortunately we have those politicians. It's true that being Italy a democratic country, if we have such corrupted politicians it's also our fault of course, but I think this government is worse than the average level of the citizens and probably the worst government of our republican history.

It's wonderful living here. Great people, great food, lots to see and do, and pretty easy to get around on the trains. Hopefully, you'll get some answers from other military people though with more specific detail on what tha might be like. I work for a private company. Most people that I've run into on the trains seem to love it here too. There have been a few that can't wait for their tour to end and go back. I got the impression that it wasn't specifically Italy, but that they're mostly too far from family. Since you've already visited here, that shouldn't be an issue for you.

Italy's wonderful for many things (cooking, art, traditions, landscapes humor etc...), but it's terrible for many others. And it's often very odd. But if you have a big imagination and much patience; Italy is for you ;-)
