What kind of visa should I get to live in Italy for 4 months

What kind of visa should I get to live in Italy for 4 months?
I am planning on living in Italy this year for around four months. The maximum time you can stay without one is 90 days, so I'm gonna need to apply for a visa. I'm 20, and am currently not taking any college classes. I plan on living with money I have saved up so I won't be working. What's the easiest visa for me?

Get an American Express. Those are better than Visa.

I live in Italy and I have met many people who came here and stayed for like 6 months. But all depends where are you from. There are Schengen Visa if you're from any country that takes part of it. The Schengen visa is valid for the following 24 European countries: Austria, Belgium, The Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. A Schengen visa issued by an Embassy or Consulate of the above countries allows the holder to travel freely in all of these countries. If you're from USA then maximum stay is 90 days, without visa. You can't stay here for more then 90 days for buisness or personal travel. But the best thing is to call Us Consulate in Italy and they'll give you more information. good luck

The only visa type that covers your plans is the residency visa; to get that you must be able to show a contract of leasing a house or an apartment in Italy. http://www.consdetroit.esteri.it/NR/rdonlyres/36852C95-703D-4AA3-9C39-CA52460D5613/0/RESIDENCEvisa.pdf ..

The site for visas here in Italy is: http://www.esteri.it/visti/index_eng.asp . The site has links to the application, the additional information you need to supply in order to get the visa and where to apply. For Germany, a good starting point will be the website of the consulate or embassy that has jurisdiction over where you live. Given that you won't need to work here, you could apply for an elective residence visa for more than 90 days, but that is really intended for someone that intends to reside here long term rather than just an extended holiday. You would need to demonstrate that you have an adequate income to live here and adequate housing. There is no visa available for a tourism trip longer than 90 days.

Hello, it's really important to know where you are from. You can contact the embassy or at least visit their website http://italy.visahq.com/embassy/United-States/
