How do I legally move to Italy to live and work

How do I legally move to Italy to live and work?
Hi. I am a single mother of one girl. I have sole legal and physical custody and her father has not had visitation rights since she was a baby. They were terminated due to severe abuse. I am wanting to immigrate to Italy and obtain citizenship. How do I get started and what forms do I need to fill out? How does the process work? I currently have US citizenship. I want to obtain citizenship in Italy for both my daughter and myself. I want to be moved there by first part of next year. Thanks.

I am italian and I lived in italy for 27 years and even if I love my country, Italy is good for vacations not for jobs! Its very hard to find a job that will give you a real contract . Meaning MOST of the jobs you get payed under the table or you get 6 months contracts, sometimes 3. There are tons of italians with degrees and no regular job! Plus most of the jobs are under payed! If you dont have family or someone to help you its gonna be very hard!!See in the states in the worst case scenario you can go work to mcdonalds, in italy mcdonalds is considered a good job cause they give u a real contract so its very hard even to get hired there! Anyway if you really want to go you gotta find an employer that sign for your "Permesso di soggiorno" (Permit to stay) and then you can present that at the Questura (Police offices) in the city where you want to reside. email me if u have any question

Before you can work in Italy, you'll actually need to find the job while outside of Italy. Once you find someone to sponsor you for a job the rest is easily taken care of. So start by looking for a job in Italy while you're yet in USA and when you get it, your sponsor will send you all the necessary documents as well as apply to the work office here and the Questera (Immigration Police) to grant you a permit of stay.
