All British passports issued since 1988 meet the requirements of the U.S. Visa Waiver Program. You just need to apply for the travel authorization (ESTA) which can be done free of charge on the website of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/esta/ .. http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/without_1990.html#mrprequirements .. http://www.consilium.europa.eu/prado/EN/3708/viewImage_92027.html .. On arrival in the United States you will have to file a form I-94W (Arrival/Departure Record) which will be annotated by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer stating the number of authorized days of stay. The fee for the form [ $ 6 ] is included in the airplane-ticket and you will get it when checking in at the Italian airport. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/business_pleasure/vwp/i94_samples.xml ..
